10 SUSTAINABLE ways to decorate your home for the holidays:
1. Natural Decor: Use natural elements like pinecones, twigs, and dried leaves for decorations. They are biodegradable and can be composted after use.
2. LED Lights: Switch to energy-efficient LED lights for your holiday lighting. They consume less electricity and last longer than traditional incandescent bulbs.
3. Homemade Ornaments: Create your own ornaments from recycled materials like old fabric, paper, or glass jars. This not only reduces waste but also adds a personal touch to your decor.
4. Upcycled Decor: Repurpose items you already have at home, like old glass bottles or wooden crates, into decorative pieces. This reduces the demand for new materials. If you don't consider yourself crafty, Etsy.com is the ideal destination for purchasing handmade and upcycled decorations.
5. Sustainable Tree: If you opt for a Christmas tree, choose a sustainably sourced, artificial tree, or a potted tree that can be replanted after the holidays.
6. Candlelight: Use natural beeswax or soy candles instead of petroleum-based candles. They are eco-friendly and give a warm, cozy ambiance to your home.
7. Reusable Decor: Invest in reusable decorations like fabric bunting or cloth advent calendars. They can be used year after year, reducing the need for disposable items.
8. Edible Decor: Decorate with edible items like dried citrus slices, cinnamon sticks, and gingerbread cookies. After the holidays, you can consume or compost them.
9. Minimalism: Embrace minimalism by choosing a few high-quality, meaningful decorations instead of overwhelming your space. This reduces consumption and waste.
10. Support Local Artists: Purchase holiday decorations from local artisans and craftsmen. Supporting local businesses promotes sustainability and helps your community thrive.

This involves creating a harmonious atmosphere that engages all your senses and promotes well-being. Here are some ideas:
1. Natural Scents: Use natural, organic or food-grade essential oils, scented candles made of soy, coconut or all natural beeswax, or simmering pots with spices like cinnamon and cloves to fill your space with natural holiday fragrances.

There are many companies that create holiday essential oil blends that smells absolutely wonderful!
My favorite company that I stumbled upon at my local farmer's market is Coastal 980. What sets this company apart for me is their commitment to purity– their essential oils contain only pure oils, with no alcohol, no distilled water, and no fillers. What impresses me most about Coastal 980 essential oils is their potency; just 3 or 4 drops in my diffuser can fill my entire open kitchen/living room area with their delightful scent!
