I've embraced an eco-friendly lifestyle for over a decade, and some might consider choosing eco-friendly products a luxury or an unnecessary expense. I strongly disagree. For my family and me, it's a necessity.

Ever since childhood, I struggled with skin allergies. My husband has dealt with seasonal allergies and sinus infections since he was young. As adults, we realized that our health issues could be alleviated by simply replacing conventional household items containing toxic chemicals with natural and eco-friendly alternatives. Initially, it was challenging to make the switch, and a little disheartening when we discovered that the products we grew up using were harming our health. We were determined to end our allergy struggles and, most importantly, prevent our children from suffering the same fate. We wanted to give them a healthy, allergy-free start in life.

If your story resembles mine and you're seeking ways to embark on your eco-friendly journey, I'd like to share some of the eco-friendly household items I buy from Amazon, my go-to online retailer. What I appreciate about Amazon is its extensive inventory, offering nearly everything at competitive prices.

I use all the items displayed below regularly, and among them, the ones I find most crucial for starting an eco-friendly lifestyle include the 18 Stage Shower Filter, Under-sink Shower Filter, Sage Incense Cones, Fred Soll's Resin Incense, and Ceramic Stone Diffuser.

When you're beginning your journey to create a healthier, non-toxic home, the key factors to consider are the quality of the air you breathe and the water you use. Your home's air contains various harmful elements such as allergens, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and other toxic pollutants. Moreover, regular tap water often harbors dangerous bacteria and chemicals that can pose health risks. I've personally experienced the effectiveness of these items in detoxifying my home, making a significant difference in both air and water quality.

One of the initial purchases I made when I started my eco-conscious journey was a shower filter. This decision stemmed from my ongoing struggle with skin allergies, and I was in desperate need of relief. When I came across this fantastic solution, I wasted no time in buying it. The impact was enormous.

I no longer stepped out of the shower with itchy, dry skin, eliminating the need for spending extra time applying ointments and heavy moisturizers. Now, I only use a small amount of homemade moisturizer that I create myself. I made a few other switches that significantly improved my skin, and I plan to discuss them in a future post. The shower filter I chose is an 18-stage filter that effectively removes chlorine, fluoride, and 16 other impurities known to cause severe dry skin, skin irritations, as well as dry hair and scalp. It's worth mentioning that your skin, being the body's largest organ with numerous pores, allows these chemicals to enter your system, affecting your internal organs as well.

My second significant investment was in a drinking water filter. Previously, I used to purchase filters that could be attached directly to the faucet or water pitchers with built-in filters. However, with the new sink models, I had to switch to an under-sink water filter like the one above. This filter substantially reduces PFAS, PFOA/PFOS, Lead, Chlorine, Bad Taste, and odor, and it lasts up to one year (8,000 gallons) before requiring replacements. My family and I use it for clean drinking water, washing produce and cooking.

I absolutely love these Sage Incense Cones. Besides ensuring my home has clean and pure air, I also enjoy filling my living space with delightful, therapeutic scents! Despite having four active boys, I make a conscious effort to maintain fresh and pleasant-smelling air indoors. These Sage Incense Cones work wonders. Sage is renowned for its cleansing properties, purifying impurities and negative energy. It promotes relaxation and positivity, and the best part is that it's handmade, organic, and completely free from chemicals.

Fred Soll's Resin Incense is my top pick from this collection. What sets them apart is not just their lack of harmful chemicals but also how long they burn. I often use only half a stick and save the rest for later, making them last longer. They come in a wide variety of powerful scents. One stick can fill up an entire two-story family home unless it's a large mansion.

However, if you're not used to incense, some scents might be a bit strong and cause mild irritation in your nose. If you have severe asthma, it's important to be cautious. If the incense affects your breathing, stop using it immediately.

I've tried different scents, and I usually go for milder ones like lavender, frankincense & myrrh, lavender & lilac, and lemongrass. For stronger odors and impurities, especially near my trash and recycle bins in the garage, I use stronger scents like Sage, Cedarwood, and Sandalwood.

There are lots of options besides incense, and one I really like is scented candles. I prefer the ones made from soy, coconut, or natural beeswax, and I always look for candles with cotton or wooden wicks.

I have a favorite candle supplier called PartyLite. They offer a diverse range of scented candles and home fragrances that are safe, natural, and therapeutic. Feel free to check out their selection by clicking the link below, and enjoy a 15% discount on your first order.

In addition to candles, I sometimes use diffusers. They help clean the air and add moisture to dry environments. I have a ceramic stone diffuser that not only does its job but also serves as a beautiful decoration for my home. You can add your favorite essential oil to it for a pleasant aroma.

All these items are crucial, easy to find, and won't break the bank. They provide an excellent foundation for creating an eco-friendly and healthy home. I can personally vouch for their effectiveness in enhancing my home's health and my family's overall well-being. I encourage you to click on each item's image to learn more and take the first step toward creating a healthier living space for yourself.

In this brief video, I'm sharing some of the eco-friendly items I incorporate into my daily routine, along with how I use and maintain some of them.

I choose Reusable Food Storage Bags for keeping leftovers and recently opened snacks. I'm not a fan of plastic for food storage, but these bags provide a safer alternative since they are made from eco-friendly PEVA and silicone materials. After using them, I simply wash the bags with warm soapy water, rinse them inside out, and let them air dry a bit on my dish drying rack before giving them a final wipe with a cloth or paper towel.

You'll also see me using a Bamboo Natural Absorbent Kitchen Sponge to clean the reusable bags. These sponges are durable; I've had mine for over two years. I just toss them in the washing machine with my other kitchen towels once a week.

When it comes to baking or cooking, I prefer Unbleached Parchment Paper Sheets. They're a safer and convenient choice to prevent my baked goods from sticking to the baking sheet. I particularly like this brand because the sheets come pre-cut, making them easy to use.

I hope that by sharing a glimpse of my eco-friendly lifestyle, I've inspired you to either start or continue your journey toward being more eco-conscious.

Have a Happy Holistic Day!
