What is Sustainable Interior Design?

My Favorite Design Style within Sustainable Interior Design

Sustainable Interior Design encompasses a wide array of design styles. Any style can be sustainable with the right effort and research into eco-friendly techniques, materials, and finishes. Even if you prefer a glam aesthetic, you can find sustainable options like natural faux fur rugs for your bedroom. While these choices might require a bit more investment, they offer superior quality, benefit your health, and are environmentally friendly.

I prefer the Modern Organic or Organic Modern design style. It's the most popular and straightforward way to integrate sustainability into your space.

Modern Organic

A popular and stylish approach, where natural harmony meets contemporary elegance.

The lush green plants complement the neutral tones of this living room beautifully. The natural greens and wooden accents juxtaposed with the beige/cream sofa, pillows, and throw blanket evoke the feeling of embarking on a warm Safari adventure!

In the sustainable and holistic approach to interior design, I believe in bringing the outside in. Choosing materials and furniture pieces that are not only inspired by nature but ARE natural and organic, create spaces that resonate with tranquility and balance.

  • 100 percent cotton, wool, and linen textiles are among my favorite modern organic fabrics. They not only feel heavenly but is also skin-friendly. The rustic charm of jute steals my heart, adding that rustic charm and character to every corner. You can find a wide variety of area rugs made from Jute, and they are naturally beautiful!

  • Touches of real wood reminds me of the Earth’s raw splendor.

Despite the challenges posed by real wood hardwood floors, especially with young children, they remain my ultimate love! The natural texture of real wood beneath my feet is unparalleled, unlike the often slippery surface of most engineered hardwood. Of course, there's no need to feel guilty if you prefer engineered floors. Let's be honest, they are incredibly low maintenance and easy to clean. Each flooring option has its unique appeal, but for me, the timeless allure of real wood is simply irresistible.

What a cute Minimalist Modern Organic living room! It's the true definition of less is more!

Modern Organic Design Style stands out as not just a trend but a sustainable way of living that seamlessly intertwines aesthetics and eco-consciousness. Its ability to effortlessly incorporate sustainability into everyday living spaces makes it the most practical and easy design style for conscious homeowners. Embracing the essence of Modern Organic Design, we celebrate the beauty of contrasting neutrals that echo the tranquil tones of nature. Light neutrals bring the calm of a clear sky into our homes, while earthy tones invite us on a journey through the heart of a lush forest or a picturesque valley of mountains. It's more than just a design choice; it's a lifestyle that harmonizes our living spaces with the natural world, fostering a deep sense of connection and well-being. Let's continue to embrace this holistic approach to design, creating spaces that not only reflect our unique styles but also nurture the planet we call home.

Happy Sustainable Styling!
